Casting Crowns is a Christian band that employs a soft rock music style. This band garnered recognitions in the 2007 Grammy award and Dove Award. The group was created by youth pastor Mark Hall at First Baptist Church Downtown Daytona Beach, Florida. Mark hall is the lead vocalist. Casting crowns was discovered by music legend Steven Curtis Chapman, and eventually had their recording contract. The group vaulted to popularity in 2003 with their self-titled debut album, which has quickly made them one of the fastest selling debut artists in Christian music history.
Mark Hall describes the band's work a ministry akin to what the world may call "preaching to the choir." Casting crowns' music, according to Hall, is a "ministry of discipleship", in keeping with "The Great Commission".
Casting Crowns members are currently ministers at Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church in McDonough, GA. The band plays there during youth service., where Hall frequently conducts prayers and speaks in front of the group on Wednesdays.
